Available PAR Parameters

The following parameters were produced:

  1. Three hourly values of total and diffuse downwelling PAR and conversion factors (CF), based on ISCCP C1 data, from July 1983 to December 1988; daily and monthly averaged values of above parameters. An example of the five year annual mean, annual minimum and annual maximum of PAR is presented in Figure 1. In Figure 2, the five year seasonal mean of the conversion factor (CF) is presented, illustrating the spatial and seasonal variability in this parameter. In Figure 3, the zonal distribution of the five year mean PAR values, as well as the corresponding conversion factors (CF), are illustrated. Figure 4 is similar to Figure 3, for July case only.

  2. Three hourly values of total and diffuse satellite based estimates of PAR from ISCCP D1 data; daily and monthly mean values of above for 1983 - 1994. An example of the monthly mean values for each month for 1993, for downwelling PAR  can be found in Gallery.

  3. Three hourly values of total and diffuse satellite based estimates of PAR from ISCCP DX METEOSAT data;  daily and monthly mean values of above for 1990-1992. An example of the monthly mean values of downwelling PAR for each month of 1990 - 1992, can be found in gallery.

Please Note: only monthly mean values of downwelling PAR can be downloaded from  this web site. Data at higher temporal resolution, to include additional parameters, will be provided upon request  from:
