Approach

• Provide historical information on surface and top of the atmosphere radiative fluxes, on both global and local scales, to help the modeling community to synthesize their current hydrological models
  
• Provide such information during the LBA experiment, using satellite observations and ancillary data, as will become available from other LBA projects
  
• Develop and test improved algorithms to predict surface radiation budgets from satellite observations that take into account deforestation in Rondonia and information on biomass burning in the Amazon Basin
